In this program, children learn the skills required to join a competitive swim team. Children will develop proper swimming mechanics, improve body balance, increase swimming endurance, and learn ‘correct’ competitive swim strokes. Participants build from existing skills developed in a beginner learn to swim program. This program is designed to transition children into a competitive swim team, and targeted towards those ages 6 – 15 years old.
Session Dates: September 17 – November 7
Length: 8 weeks
Days & Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00 – 5:00pm
Cost: $150

Pre-Team 1 Requirements: 
Children wishing to participate in the Pre-Team 1 Swim Program must be able to do the following skills:
1) Ability to exhale under water and inhale above water (i.e. bobs), and be willing to swim with their face in the water
2) Swim a continuous 50 (down and back) of overhand front crawl stroke with face in the water and beginnings of rhythmic breathing.
3) Swim a continuous 50 (down and back) on his/her back
4) Must be able to do the Breaststroke Kick
5) Head and hands first entry into the deep end and return to the wall without assistance
6) Must wear a swim cap, goggles, and an appropriate swimming suit
7) Must be able to practice skills/swim semi-continuously for 1 hour
8) Must be able to stay focused and follow directions in a group setting for 1 hour
Pre-Team 2 Requirements: 
Children wishing to participate in the Pre-Team 2 Swim Program must be able to do the following skills:
1) Ability to exhale under water and inhale above water (i.e. bobs), and be willing to swim with their face in the water
2) Somersault in the water and beginning of flip turns
3) Swim a continuous 100m (4 lengths of the pool) of overhand front crawl stroke with face in the water and rhythmic breathing.
4) Swim a continuous 100m (4 lengths of the pool) on his/her back
5) Must be able to do the Breaststroke for a 50 (down and back)
6) Must be able to do dolphin kick and Butterfly body motion
7) Standing Dive into the deep end
8) Must wear a swim cap, goggles, and an appropriate swimming suit
9) Must be able to practice skills/swim semi-continuously for 1 hour
10) Must be able to stay focused and follow directions in a group setting for 1 hour
