The CVPH Wellness & Fitness Center has a six lane 25 meter pool which has a deep end of 13 feet and a shallow end of 3.5 feet. There is a lifeguard on at all times and the pool is handicap accessible with a lift chair going into the water. We keep the temperature of our pool between 82 and 84 degrees. We provide a wide variety of pool equipment.

Deadline to Register is May 30th. Register at the Front Desk. Must pick-up review and study packet at the Front Desk in advance to the start of the course.
Must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate and be able to pass a prerequisite skills evaluation by doing the following:
1) Swim 300yds continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may swim using front crawl, breaststroke or combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim googles may be used.
2) Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
3) Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
– Starting in the water, swim 20 yards and your face may be in or out of the water and goggles are not allowed.
– Surface dive feet or head first to a depth of 7-10 ft and retrieve a 10lb object.
– Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object while keeping your face at or near the surface so you are able to breath. Exit the water with out using the ladder or steps.
This 6 week program familiarizes young children (from 6 months to <5 years) to the water and prepares them for our Learn to Swim Program. This program gives parents safety information and teaches techniques to help orient their children to the water.

Parent and Child 1: 5:30 – 6:00pm (6 months to < 2 years old) Parent required to be in the water. (Max. of 12 children)
Parent and Child 2: 6:00 – 6:30pm (2 to 3 years old) Parent required to be in the water. (Max. of 12 children)
Preschool Aquatics: 6:30 – 7:00pm (> 3 to < 5 years old) Parent will not be in the water (Max. of 5 children)
Preschool Aquatics: 7:00 – 7:30pm (> 3 to < 5 years old) Parent will not be in the water (Max. of 5 children)

First day will be used for skill testing and level placement if needed. Please register at the Front Desk in advance and complete a registration form. Please select level on registration form and attend that time frame during the first day. If level is unknown, please attend a time slot based on the criteria below for the first day.
Level 1: 4:00 – 4:30pm
Skills needed: Bubble blowing, getting face wet, comfortable in the water without guardian.
Level 2: 4:30 – 5:00pm
Skills needed: Level 1 plus – Full submersion, floating, use of kick-board, swimming on front and back.
Level 3: 5:00 – 5:30pm
Skills needed: Level 1 & 2 plus – Front crawl with face in the water, whip kick, ability to attempt diving.
Level 4: 5:30 – 6:00pm
Skills needed: All previous levels plus – Ability to swim entire lengths, diving, front/back crawl, breaststroke.
* 5:30 – 6:00pm may become a Level 1-2 if there are no participants at a Level 4 during a session.
In this program children learn the skills required to join a competitive swim team. Children will develop proper swimming mechanics, improve body balance, increase swimming endurance, and learn ‘correct’ competitive swim strokes. Participants build from existing skills developed in a beginner learn to swim program. This program is designed to transition children into a competitive swim team, and targeted towards those ages 6 – 15 years old.

Children wishing to participate in the Pre-Team Swim Program must be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Open to members and non-members in the community, these fun filled Friday evenings give families the chance to get out of the house and do something fun! All swimmers must sign a waiver prior to entering the pool. Children under 16 must have a parent / guardian present; Children under 8 must have a parent / guardian in the water with them. Limited locker space available. No pool inner tubes or flotation devices allowed. Only personal life-vests or swimming floaties are allowed. Pool equipment not accessible; noodles, water weights, kick boards, pull buoys, and float belts.
